Painting through life
Art pieces feature varied subjects and are on display at the Silverton

By DANIELLE NADLER
VIEW STAFF WRITER

Wil Cormier's studio on the second floor of his Mountain's Edge home is more than a workspace. It's a narration of Cormier's journey as an artist.

Illustrated movie posters from his early years as an art student hang along the walls. Airbrushed book cover designs and magazine advertisements, works from 25 years ago, are tucked in folders. His most recent fine art pieces display vibrant paintings of mermaids, pirates, ballerinas, islands and portraits; some rest against the walls and others sit on easels waiting to be completed.

Classes focus on getting second career

Before Bobby Deal was known for his stock and commercial photography, he held a corporate job. Through trial and error, he taught himself photography on weekends and jumped into the professional photography ring in 2001. He has since shot 50,000 images a year for publications such as Maxim, American Curves and For Him Magazine.

Deal says if he can learn photography as a second career, others can, too. That's what prompted him to start a weekly workshop two months ago inside his photography and production studio, Vegas Vision Studios.
