Out of the pool
Enclosure project to shut down Pavilion Center facility Aug. 15 for a year

No more splashing, no more races. Come Aug. 15, the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services plans to close down Pavilion Center Pool, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive, for 12 months.

The city is on track to construct a building around the outdoor facility, making the pool usable year-round.

Former elementary principal opens recording studio

They call Scott Ober "Pops." It's a fitting way to address the owner -- after all, Diverse Studios is a family-owned and operated business.

But step inside the studio at 3212 W. Desert Inn Road, and it's apparent that this may be an employee-friendly place, but it's also a state-of-the-art one, with equipment such as a Solid State Logic Matrix 40-channel soundboard, a 3.0 GHz 6GB RAM custom-built computer and a Korg mini-synthesizer.
