Sun City Summerlin voters weigh whether to build new fire station

The ballots have been mailed. The voting deadline has been set. Now, it's up to the residents of Sun City Summerlin to determine if they want a fire station in their community.

Ballots were previously sent on Nov. 4, 2008, but participation didn't meet the community's covenants, conditions and restrictions, which call for a 67 percent voting majority. Of the 7,781 residents in Sun City Summerlin, only about 4,500 votes were cast, Sun City Summerlin board President Richard Post said. In order for the issue to pass, at least 5,213 residents must cast "Yes" votes.
