Register to vote by March 17 for the primary election

All Henderson residents 18 years old or older on Election Day can register in person at City Hall, 240 S. Water St., through March 17 for the primary election and May 12 for the general election.

MAIL BALLOTS CAN BE REQUESTED THROUGH MARCH 31

Each calendar year, residents must submit a written mail ballot request to vote by mail that year. Nevada does not allow permanent mail ballot status. Residents will not automatically receive a mail ballot unless they annually request one in writing.

To request a mail ballot, go to the city clerk's office at City Hall, 240 Water St.; call 267-1400; or go online at www.cityofhenderson.com.

A handwritten signature is required. If you cannot sign your name due to a physical disability, call 455-6552 for instructions.

The last day to receive written mail ballot requests for the primary election is March 31 and May 26 for the general election.

EARLY VOTING WILL BEGIN MARCH 21 THROUGHOUT HENDERSON

Early voting for the primary election will take place from March 21 through April 2.

There will be two permanent sites and a third site that will rotate each day. The permanent sites are Henderson City Hall, 240 Water St., from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday; and the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Every day during early voting, a new site will open for a day around the city. For those sites, visit www.cityofhenderson.com.

MULTIPLE VOTE CENTERS WILL BE OPEN ON ELECTION DAY

Henderson residents can vote at any of the 15 vote centers in place of traditional, precinct-based polling locations. Each vote center is spaced no farther than three miles from another so that residents may vote at their convenience on Election Day. The ward of residence will not limit voters from voting in another ward.

Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 7 and June 2.

For a list of vote centers, visit www.cityofhenderson. com/city_clerk/municipal_elections/2009_Election_Info_English/2009_vote_election_day.php.
