MEET THE CANDIDATES: William Robinson
Candidate for North Las Vegas Mayor
Mayor Pro Tempore William Robinson was born and raised in the South and attended Mississippi Valley State University. After moving to Las Vegas in 1959, Robinson worked as an educator and eventually retired from his position with the Clark County School District as an outreach consultant.
Robinson, who has served on the council since 1983, said that his leadership experience qualifies him for the mayoral seat. Robinson is serving his seventh consecutive term and represents Ward 2.
"This campaign is one that we're going to have to be frugal about," Robinson said. "Budgets have to be lean when times are tough."
Robinson is a member of the Work Force Investment Board, the Board of the Southern Nevada District Board of Health and the Criminal Justice Advisory Commission, chairman of the North Las Vegas Housing Authority board of directors and an alternate for the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition. He also has served on the state's Gaming Policy Committee.
Robinson has two children.
