Fostering flights of fancy
Dancing, playing promote children's imaginations at business

Too few children are taught about the importance of developing imaginative play, according to advocate of make-believe and owner of the northwest Las Vegas-based Fairytales and Tutus, Alene Hochstetter.

"I have always been an advocate for building a child's imagination," she said. "My own love of imaginative play is what led me to open my studio."

Teacher, published author develops writing program for kids

At a glance, Pattie Garner is a petite, polite kindergarten teacher. If you look closer, however, you'll see there's much more.

Garner has worked for the Clark County School District for nine years, and seven of them were spent at Gragson Elementary School prior to coming to Kitty Ward Elementary School at the beginning of the 2008-09 academic year.
