Barbara Dempsey was raised in a no-nonsense family where good and bad were absolute. But Dempsey saw shadows and shades of gray "on a vast white canvas of time that stretched so far (she) could not see the end." When she'd tell people of her vision, her mother would tell her, "Don't talk that way, people will think you are crazy."

Once she left childhood and doubt behind, Dempsey spun her gifts of perception into a motivational/psychic awareness company she calls Harmony Life. The Spring Valley-area resident tells her story in "Finding Shadows in the Mist: Memoir of a Psychic."
