After-school action
Landsman Learning Center gives kids an alternative to the streets

Inside the Al Landsman Gardens complex in Henderson, the Landsman Learning Center seeks to help younger residents stay off the streets and do their homework.

Anchored by Club Christ Ministries, the Landsman Center is one of two buildings dedicated to keeping children on track both in school and out. The other is located in North Las Vegas at 2517 Morton Ave.

Gibson and Clark say final goodbyes
Hafen, Boutin to be sworn in tonight

The June 9 Henderson City Council meeting began with nearly an hour of presentations honoring Mayor Jim Gibson and Councilman Jack Clark as they took part in their final meeting.

"This has been a tough day of goodbyes," Gibson said. "I didn't think it was going to be like this. People who really know the truth know I didn't really do much. The five of us worked together."
