Celebrate Independence Day with a bang

Many organizations around the valley are having smaller Independence Day celebrations this year than in previous years, but there's still plenty to do.
HENDERSON
Henderson's star-spangled evening will feature family events and a fireworks show from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.
"We are thrilled to celebrate this historic tradition with the community," said Andrea Primo, director of the Cultural Arts and Tourism Department. "We encourage our residents to join us in Henderson's Water Street District and show their patriotic pride as we honor America's birthday."
There will be three stages of live music by the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, country music entertainer Randy Anderson and classic rock tribute band The Downstrokes.
Children are invited to take a turn on the rock wall, dunk tank, bounce house and more. The night will finish with a fireworks display from atop City Hall.
Admission and parking are free. Some activities may require paid admission. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided from Morrell Park, located at 500 Harris St., beginning at 5 p.m. Only handicap parking will be available on site.
Glass containers, fireworks and barbecues are prohibited.

Viewers can get closer to the action at the Eldorado Casino's Independence Day party atop the parking garage beginning at 7:30 p.m. at 140 S. Water St. Adult admission is $5 or 4,000 Prime Rewards points, and children younger than 3 are free. Parking also is free. Food and beverage, including traditional Fourth of July fanfare of hamburgers and hot dogs, will be available for purchase.
"From the top level of our parking structure, the Eldorado Casino offers the perfect vantage point of the city of Henderson fireworks display," said Jim Sullivan, general manager of Eldorado Casino. "We'll be in Independence Day party mode, selling barbecue favorites like hamburgers and hot dogs, and welcoming residents from Henderson and throughout the valley to celebrate with us."
BOULDER CITY
The 61st annual Damboree Celebration will begin at 7 a.m. with the Rotary Pancake Breakfast at Bicentennial Park, 1100 Colorado St.. At 9 a.m., the parade begins at Colorado Street down Nevada Highway to Fifth Street and ends at Broadbent Memorial Park, 1301 Fifth St. Events will run until 4 p.m., including a flyover by Boulder City Veteran's Flying Group, midway booths, food, drinks, games, contests and live entertainment at Broadbent Memorial Park.
The Damboree will move to Veterans' Memorial Park from 6 to 11 p.m., including food, drinks, water park activities and competitive games. A disc jockey and live entertainment will begin at 7 p.m., and a fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. After the show, the disc jockey will play music until 11 p.m.
STATION CASINOS
Station Casinos will set off nine fireworks shows simultaneously at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Nine Station properties are involved in the show, including Green Valley Ranch, Fiesta Henderson, Sunset Station, Boulder Station, Red Rock Resort, Palace Station, Aliante Station and Santa Fe Station. Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho will be a shared show.
The fireworks display is being produced by the Grucci Family, one of the premier fireworks companies in the world.
M RESORT
The M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is hosting its first Freedom Fireworks Extravaganza at 9:15 p.m. Saturday. The fireworks show will last 15 minutes. Before the show, an old-fashioned food fair will offer carnival-like food stands where popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, soda and water will be available for purchase. The food fair begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free to the public. The Villaggio and Pool Bars also will remain open for alcohol purchases.
