CITY COUNCIL WARD 3 CANDIDATE: Anita Wood
Former planning commissioner
Anita Wood has lived in North Las Vegas for 15 years and said that she considers herself to be extremely familiar with the core issues affecting the city.
"I know this city inside and out," she said. "I know the issues that are really important to the people here, and I have some great ideas about what we can do to solve our problems."
Wood served as a planning commissioner from 1999 to 2003 and currently serves on the North Las Vegas Citizens' Advisory Committee and Utility Advisory Board. She has served on the Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada board and is currently president of Friends of the North Las Vegas Library District.
After spending many years as the project administrator for a construction management firm, Wood now works as a stay-at-home mother of a toddler and teen.
Wood graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 1986 with a degree in comparative literature.
Wood has been married for 20 years.
