11-year-old adds San Gennaro Feast set to her musical repertoire

Wynona Leigh McCullough stepped up to her practice microphone in her bedroom like she was walking onto a large stage. As if the microphone's power switch controlled her as well, the 11-year-old's timid demeanor was replaced by that of a confident performer.

With eyes closed, she crooned the words of "Free to be Me" by Francesca Battistelli into the mic.

Team plans sign-ups to boost dwindled ranks

Proud parent Kristi Krause never suspected that cheerleading could transform her young daughter into a self-confident, outgoing preteen, but after nearly two years of involvement with competitive cheer squad the X-treme Storm All Stars, the North Las Vegas resident said that's exactly what has happened.

Krause said that two years ago, she enrolled her then 5-year-old daughter Megan in a recreational cheer class at the Vitaly Scherbo School of Gymnastics in an effort to get her off the couch and moving.
