Elyssa Reyna Feinberg was called to the Torah on Sept. 5.

Elyssa is in the eighth grade at Becker Middle School.

She plays the flute, sings, enjoys cooking and dramatic arts, is active in her school band and also advanced band.

Her mitzvah project was volunteering at a preschool for children in need.

Elyssa is the daughter of Stacy and Robert Hakes and Lee Feinberg.

Shannon Rose Farrell was called to the Torah at a bat mitzvah on Aug. 22 at Temple Sinai.

Shannon is a cheerleader and an honor roll student in the eighth grade at Leavitt Middle School.

She is active in student council and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.

Her mitzvah project was fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She raised more than $2,000.

Shannon is the daughter of John and Trudy Farrell.

William Howard Hoffman, 23, graduated in May from Washington University in St. Louis.

He earned two bachelor of arts degrees, one in philosophy and one in economics.

He is now pursuing doctoral studies in politics at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.

Wendy Granados, a 2009 graduate of Valley High School, was granted a one-month trip to France by the French Alliance of Southern Nevada.

Zach Taylor, 19, a member of Troop 125, has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

Taylor, a 2009 graduate of Spring Valley High School, is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In high school, he played football and lacrosse, was a member of Mu Alpha Theta (mathematics honors society) and received the American Legion Award.

He hopes to pursue a career in accounting/business management or law enforcement.

Taylor is the son of Kurt and Reneé Taylor of Las Vegas.

Anthony Passalacqua received a bachelor of science degree from the health sciences and human performance school at Ithaca College in New York.

Passalacqua is the son of Jay Passalacqua of Las Vegas.

Jennifer Joyner of Las Vegas earned a master of arts degree in economics from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., on Aug. 8.

Morgan Stewart, a first-grader at Las Vegas Day School, earned first place in her age category playing the flute at the Nevada Music Teachers Association Silver State Music Competition on Oct. 17 at UNLV.

Morgan played "Lullaby" by F. Schubert and "Minuet 14" by J.S. Bach.

She is the daughter of Dr. Paul and April Stewart of Las Vegas.
