Hello, Hills Park
Summerlin Council takes back control of neighborhood spot

Its amphitheater and grounds have seen Fourth of July fireworks and hosted everything from dog-owner events to philharmonic concerts. Now, The Hills Park, 9100 Hillpointe Road, is once again under the control of the Summerlin Council.

The Hills Park was Summerlin's first park. It was built in 1991, soon after the first residents moved in, but a year before the "Road to Nowhere" -- now called Summerlin Parkway -- had any real destination.

Gallery hangs last painting at Boca Park
White Square owners cite struggling art sales as reason for closure

The doors are locked. The paintings are gone. White Square Gallery, 740. S. Rampart Blvd., Suite 4, is out of business, yet another victim of the economy.

"We haven't had one sale on the European side in the last 11 months," said Natasha Young, chief operating officer of White Square Gallery/Maxes LLC, on Aug. 21, the last day it was open. "And we're representing artists whose art was museum level."
