Graduate shines in solar energy development

Sitting inside the Center for Energy Research at UNLV, Leo Banchik is completely at ease. His relaxed manner doesn't give away his extensive accomplishments or his competitive nature.

On a hot August morning Banchik is wearing jeans, a multi-colored striped shirt and sandals, which help to further his laid-back aura. His smile and twinkling eyes show his curious side. To some extent, he is a laid-back guy. But there's another side of his personality, one where he is a dedicated scholar driven to succeed and be the best at everything he can.

Cafe serves patrons hungry for organic food

To grow organic may be a feat in the valley, but eating organic is not, thanks to one new southeast restaurant.

Elixir Organic Cafe & Lounge, 9550 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 180, opened its doors to organic-seeking eaters a month ago.
