Overcoming addiction
Henderson resident beat drugs, now owns health food business

Being a homeless drug addict, Jay Littmann found himself with little hope. Somehow between dead-end jobs and growing addictions, he found a little bit of hope to turn his life around that took him from the gutters of Massachusetts to the suburbs of Las Vegas.

Littmann's story starts as a teenager, when he became addicted to drugs, and continues today as a successful chef and entrepreneur owning Chef Jay's Food Products.

Friends, family pay tribute to Nevada State College president

When the search committee for Nevada State College went looking for a president five years ago, it sought someone with great vision. The committee found Fred Maryanski, who not only carried that vision but also cultivated it and turned it into his legacy.

Even though Maryanski, 63, died of cancer July 2, he leaves behind that legacy for two families: his wife, children and grandchildren and his colleagues within the higher education system.
