Dining Guide
PICK OF THE WEEK:
ANNIE'S GOURMET ITALIAN
1716 W. HORIZON RIDGE PARKWAY, 254-3663
Annie is the youngest of four children who grew up in a suburb of New York to Italian parents. "Both grandfathers were in the butcher business, as was my father," she said. "I have fond memories of hanging meats, salamis and cheeses and also remember that our life revolved around the dinner table." Annie has transferred those memories to her restaurant, where entrees include chicken Parmigiana, sausage and peppers, veal or chicken piccata and chicken Mediterranean with artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes. Among the pastas are baked rigatoni, fettucine Alfredo, rigatoni or spaghetti with meatballs and lasagna with ricotta, mozzarella, romano and Parmesan cheeses and homemade sauce. Desserts include spumoni torte, tiramisu, New York cheesecake and chocolate cake. Popular appetizers are calamari, rice balls, Aunt Mary's antipasto platter, meatball scampi, blackberry walnut Brie platter and Annie's famous stuffed mushrooms, with sweet Italian sausage, spinach, bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Entrees average between $10 and $20. Annie's Gourmet Italian is open for dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday and 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Annie's plans to begin serving lunch on March 1 from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
